Spring time

The warm weather has brought out lots of spring flowers around the country and luckily Silverdale has been basking in the sunshine too. The birds are busy in the garden and the woodland and the air is filled with calls. A Blackcap was seen and heard in the garden marking its territory as well as a willow warbler & chiff chaff. A deer also lazily meandered across the lawn and down the path towards the lake in the afternoon sun. The cowslips in the lawn are in full bloom and the dog violets and dogs mercury are peppering the path edges in the woodland. There is also a special plant we spotted near the edge of the lake, the toothwort. It's a parasitic plant which feeds on the roots of trees. Worth looking for if you are out on a walk.
